Circus Talk: Are Circuses Still Relevant in Today’s Modern World?

If you go back to the 1800s and the 1900s it was always such a treat when the circus rolled into town. One of the reasons why a visiting circus was so special was because of the fact that it introduced a unique form of entertainment at a time wherein television and the internet was not even a thing.

In today’s world people often wonder if the concept of a circus still exists. Also, even if it did exist, is it still relevant?

Our answer: YES!

Here are a few reasons why circuses are still quite relevant event with today’s modern world:

Nostalgia

If you have not noticed it yet, the last few years or so was directed toward nostalgia and remembering the ‘good old days’. Old TV shows are being revived. Old celebrities from the 80s and 90s are making a comeback. Everyone just goes nuts for nostalgia.

There is nothing quite as nostalgic as the image of a giant red tent with fun fare music in the air. More and more people want to connect to how things used to be. They want their children to experience the old forms of entertainment. A circus can help with this massive call.

History

The whole concept of a circus is deeply tied with some cultures around the world. The people who were in it, the things that they used to do, and many others captivated the imagination of the entire world. Much like anything in our collective history, it is important to keep it alive and well.

So as you can see, a circus or a travelling troupe is still quite relevant in today’s world. With the present state of international affairs as it is, it would be even better to bring old circuses back to life.
